Wellfleet Cabins

Just off the edge of one of Wellfleet’s natural kettle ponds, this guest house provides additional work and lounging space for the main residence a few feet away. Inspired by the local modernist history of Cape Cod, its design is composed of two equal square volumes arranged on a deck platform. Their individual configuration of doors and windows create graphic profiles while framing the surrounding scenic views for its interiors. Red cedar siding aligned with careful precision to the openings clad the exterior as a modern translation of a familiar New England siding material. Exposed framing, pine shiplap, and painted plywood floors bring a rustic warmth within the structures.
